"Here there be dragons", as was marked on the maps at the edge of "the world". It was only the bravest explorers, who dared to challenge those cartographic created gods, who sailed beyond the sunset.
There are a couple of Gnostic discussion boards out there. This isn't like the others. This is a freethought forum.
(Please read the Wiki article in its entirety before you read any further.)
Back? Good. It is my contention that the wisest and most aware progression of gnosis is only to be achieved through freethought.
To that end, this forum has been established in the interest and promotion of, freethinking gnosis. Accept no substitutes, and subscribe to no mythologies as literal.
Think of it as Pascal's Wager, "on the downhill side". Is gnosis really communing with the ineffable limitless and illimitable all? Cool. Or is it really instead a function of hacking one's own grey matter? That's cool too.
There is no denying that the spark of human consciousness exists. Deifying that spark, in my opinion, or positing some external source for that spark, is what so often leads down the road to false idols.
To paraphrase Yoda, "There is no 'believe'. Do, or do not."
There is only one rule here, and if you break it, your posts will be deleted. (I'm not going to get into the sturm und drang that banning people brings on.)
DO NOT PREACH.
Speak of your own personal gnoses, sure, share your experiences, thoughts and feelings. If you get that from a church, no problem, just don't bring your church/group/etcetera into it.
Any literalist interpretations, hand-waving rejections of scientific fact and rational thought, will be deleted. There is room for debate here, I am just not interested in debating those who refuse to hold to the standards of critical inquiry that I feel best serves gnostic praxis.
That goes double for any literalist interpretations of the canonical Christian texts. I am not a Christian. This is not a Christian forum. Christianizing will be dealt with summarily.
Welcome to the first freethinking gnostic forum on the Internet!
